Valerie (she/her) is a London- and Berlin-based director and photographer who elaborates the complexity of precise storytelling through film as craft and medium.
After graduating with a BA in TV video production and photography from SUNY Plattsburgh, she joined Los Angeles-based creative agency BeGood Studios, working on projects with Louis Vuitton/Virgil Abloh, Valentino, and others. Followingly, Valerie supported the Berlin-based film production company Founders Reserve Media, where she contributed to all stages of production with a variety of clients, including conceptualisation and storyboarding. Valerie completed her academic education with an MA in Filmmaking at the London Film Academy. In London, Valerie led the Arts Department for ‘L’Hypermnesique’ (2023), a short drama starring Agathe Nathanson and Bernard Farcy, and directed two shorts, ‘Sweet Lemon Tea’ (2024) and ‘The Satisfaction’ (2024).
Over the past years, Valerie furthered her capacities as a Director through two passions. First, by practising an in-depth comprehension of shooting, developing, and editing analogue film and photography, amongst others by bringing together chemical and compositional knowledge with the craft of shooting on film. Second, she wants to bring attention to a more precise depiction of emotions and the fragilities of the human condition from perspectives that are often marginalised in film, such as mental health. For that, Valerie explores her characters by other forms of artistic expression, such as painting on different scales and mediums.
